Fine Arts Overview

Wichita Christian’s support of the Arts in school is for a very simple reason. It makes our students better learners. The Arts builds leadership skills, provides an outlet for creativity, improves math and science reasoning and provides a well-rounded educational experience.

Integration of the Arts goes beyond a simple art project during class. We strive to merge arts standards to build connections and engage students in their own learning experience. Students experience art as an important part of the curriculum at WCS from Preschool through 12th grade. Students have the opportunity to express their creativity and Secondary students also have the opportunity to enter their art in interscholastic competitions. Preschool & Elementary students get to participate in music programs during the year to enrich the learning experience through the arts. The Wichita Christian theater program has many opportunities to shine for WCS. Secondary students perform in Preschool, Elementary, and Secondary chapel, and also visit area youth groups for performances. The secondary theater program also has opportunities to compete in interscholastic competitions as well as perform for many school functions. Grades 7-12 can also try out for the WCS ENCORE choir. Various singing engagements are scheduled throughout the year. The choir is important at our major events during the school year. Wichita Christian School is one of the only schools offering a jazz band program. The High School Band also has the opportunity to compete in band and music competitions as well as to perform in many school and community functions.

Our commitment to the arts is important to the well-rounded experience we give all our students at WCS.  The Fine Arts enhance our mission to inspire the hearts, minds,  and souls of our students!
